Time Is Flying

Wow...time is flying this spring.  Last time  we talked I was getting ready to go to the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival.  That was over two weeks ago.  Yikes!!!  Anyway, we've just finished with our own fiber festival in Kentucky.  It was a beautiful weekend with tons of things to do.  (Finally no rain!)  I had the opportunity to meet many of you for the first time and spend some time catching up with old friends.
We took part of our flock to the festival for a shearing demonstration.

Suprise!!!

Spending an entire month in the barn helping these girls have their babies has been a mixed blessing.  It was long and lonely being away from my family most of the time but being alone with the girls as their little lambs enter the world was precious beyond words.  While I am glad all the lambs are here safe and sound, I am a little sad the last twins were born last Sunday.  Well...just when I thought everyone was done having babies....I walked in to the barn to check on the last set of twins and thought I heard....mewing.  Sure enough, just behind the pen with my twins was a momma kitty with two tiny baby kittens.  Oh my....I didn't expect that.  I don't even own a momma kitty.  (Guess I do now!)  Anyway...expected or not, new life is always beautiful and exciting.

Yarn and Roving are here!

Finally....new yarn and roving are back from the fiber mill.  It's so soft and beautiful.  I will begin dyeing next week.  (Please let me know if there are any specific colors you need.)
We will be leaving for the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival on Thursday.  I am looking forward to all the sheep breed shows.  I'm also anxious to talk to the vendors to see what everyone is doing this year.  (I am happy to meet you in Maryland with your order if you would like to save shipping charges.

Lambs are here!

What a wonderfult ime of year.  The grass is growing, the flowers are blooming and there are lambs everywhere around our barnyard.  Watching the lambs take their first breath and try to stand to nurse their mommies is more fun than any movie or t.v. show.

We have had many visitors over the past several weeks and some have been lucky enough to witness an actual birth.  Many thanks to all who have come by to help.  I couldn't have done it without you.

We are going to the fiber mill on Tuesday to pick up yarn and roving for the coming festival season.
